Kia Carens: Windshield Wiper/Washer / Front Wiper Motor Calibration Repair procedures
Wiper Setting Position Calibration Mode (Teach-In)
; If the assembled wiper arm is not lined up with the mark on the windshield,
activate the opposite electronic motor wiper arm and set the blade setting position
in teach-in mode to move the wiper arm to the correct position.
1. |
Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the “IGN ON”
position.
|
2. |
Operate the wipers once or twice to reset the wiper motor to the zero
position. (Windshield glass WET condition or wiper arm lock back condition)
|
3. |
Connect the diagnostic device to the vehicle and select the menu “Wiper
Setting Position Calibration Mode.”
|
4. |
On the Wiper Setting Position Teach-In Mode screen, press the “Start”
button to start the teach-in process.
|
5. |
When the learning starts, hold the center (arm bar) of the arm and move
it to the mark on the glass.
If you hold the end of the blade when moving the wiper arm, the clearance
between the wiper arm and blade makes it impossible to accurately calibrate
the wiper position correctly.
|
6. |
Complete the learning process and check whether the message “Success”
is displayed on the screen.
(1) |
Keep the key at the IGN ON position during the process above.
|
(2) |
Never mount the driver side arm and blade on the passenger side
arm and blade position or vice versa.
|
(3) |
Ensure that the end of the blade is below the ceramic line on
the windshield glass while you perform the teach-in process.
; If you perform teach-in while the end of the blade is not
below the ceramic area, the position after teach-in will be
set to an original point (ⓐ) that is not within the ceramic
area.
If you turn on the wiper while in this condition, it interferes
with the A-pillar.
|
(4) |
Never disconnect the diagnostic device before the teach-in process
is completed.
|
(5) |
Retry to teach-in if any problem occurs during the teach-in
process.
|
(6) |
Never activate the wiper during the teach-in process.
|
(7) |
If you teach-in under abnormal conditions as described below,
follow the instructions displayed on the diagnostic device.
Abnormal conditions: The ignition is OFF; the diagnostic device
connector is disconnected; the wiper arm is misplaced.
